‘Love is romantic but marriage is a contract’

In a bizarre mashup of fiction promoted as social policy intervention via press release, a new novel apparently features the idea of the 7 1/2 year marriage license (a similar idea of termed, renewable marriage contracts was floated not long ago by real-life legislators in Mexico).

Actually, I think it’s a great idea for a novel. It has the potential to be a satire of modern American morals. What a good lens to use to look at what it means when marriage becomes temporary.

Unfortunately, the author doesn’t seem to see the humor. It looks likes he’s perfectly serious and trying to use the novel to promote his ideas of how to do it. This could be dull.

The article you link to doesn’t mention children, who have an unfortunate habit of needing parents for more than 7 1/2 years – and that’s if you have one child only right away.

One other thought – this looks like a self-published book. It has no Amazon ranking. I don’t think you need to worry too much.
