Elin and Alana

Apologies: The download link wasn’t working for my interview with one of my best friends and bandmates, Elin Ey (a lezzzzzbian!).

It should be working fine now.

Here is the old post.

And here is a direct link to download the audio.

And here is a link to Elin’s music.

    Alana,
I just finished listening to this interview. Please thank you friend Elin for sharing this with you and us. It is so interesting to see your different perspectives integrating, expanding on and learning from each other. I come from a different “donor” conception family experience than you. I had two VERY loving social dad’s in my life (my first dad – who agreed to allow my mom, his wife, to undergo DI and unselfishly raised me as his own and my step dad who married my mom after my dad passed away and lovingly accepted and embraced me, my husband and my/our children as his own). I never felt abandoned or rejected by either of them but even given my *ideal family*, I still always yearned for a meaningful connection with my biological father, half siblings and extended family etc..(from the moment I was told at age 18). For me, it just is a part of my nature – they are all a part of me (and my/my husband’s bio-children) – it is not only an emotional connection and identity need but, for lack of a better word, also a spiritual need (although I am not religious or identify with any group think what-so-ever).

Only after having children of my own did I have the strength to acknowledge this importance.

I’m so honored to have been the first ‘donor conceived kid’ – twice your age – that you have met, and hugged. I so so so hope that I will NOT be your last.
